Sheriff Michael A. Schiff began his first term as Sullivan County Sheriff on January 1st, 2006. He was a 28 year veteran of the New York State Police, having served as a K-9 handler and firearms instructor. His experience includes the 1979 prison strike, the 1980 Winter Olympics, the St. Regis Mohawk Crises, several Woodstock reunions, the World Trade Center attack on 9/11 and the Republican National Convention in New York City. Sheriff Schiff is a lifelong resident of Sullivan County. He resides in Liberty, NY with his wife and four children.
Sullivan County has a population of 73,966 and has an area of 969.7 square miles.
